This is Wes Wise, a third year math PhD student and member of the elections committee for our first election of union leadership as GSWOC-UAW Local 872. I am writing today to inform you that the nomination period for the election is now open, and will conclude at 11:59pm on April 29th. Every member in good standing is eligible to accept candidacy for an elected office.
To accept nomination for an office, fill out this form. You may only run for one (1) office, unless you wish to run for Steward and Lead Steward. A description of each position can be found here. The form includes a space to share your candidacy statement and an optional profile picture, which will be included with future election materials. The candidacy statement may not exceed 500 words.

The election timeline is as follows:
- April 22nd-29th: Nomination period
- May 5th: Candidate statements submitted to membership.
- May 13th: Voting opens, online ballots sent out to all members. (If you do not receive a ballot on the 13th, there will be a link to request a ballot.)
- May 14th: Voting closes
- May 15th: Election results announced
- May 20th-21st: Runoff election, if necessary, for positions where no candidate is voted in by a majority vote
