March 20, 2023

The window for bargaining team nominations has officially opened. Nominations are open until this Thursday, March 23rd, at 5pm. To nominate yourself for bargaining team, send the following materials to the GSWOC elections email (elections@gswoc-usc.org):

  • Nominee’s name, department, year, job title, and pronouns
  • A 500-word candidate statement, which, if the election is contested, will be sent to all graduate student workers. Feel free to submit a picture if you’d like, as well.

As a reminder, the bargaining team is an elected body of graduate student workers who are empowered to make proposals and decisions at the bargaining table with USC. A successful bargaining team should be diverse, driven, and highly involved in organizing. All TAs, RAs, ALs, and fellows who have signed a union authorization card are eligible to run for the bargaining team. If you haven’t yet signed a union card, you can do so here.

Finally, some additional reminders about the bargaining team election itself. If the election is contested, all GSWs will be sent a secure link on Monday, March 27th, and will have until midnight on Tuesday, March 28th to cast their votes. The bargaining team will consist of 15 members, meaning you can vote for up to, but no more than, 15 candidates. The 15 candidates who receive the greatest number of votes will make up the bargaining team.

Have any questions about collective bargaining or thinking about running for the bargaining team yourself? Fill out this form — or simply reply to this email — and one of your fellow GSWs will get in touch.
